How long does it take to get to the Grand Canyon by helicopter?
Papillon flies daily helicopter tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon West Rim. That 130-mile trip takes approximately 45 minutes. The South Rim, where Grand Canyon National Park is headquartered, is a bit further away, about a 1 hours and 15-minute trip, and requires transport on a sightseeing aircraft from Las Vegas.
Is it free to visit the Grand Canyon?
No. Both the National Park Service, which administers the South and North Rim, and the Hualapai Tribe, which owns and operates the West Rim, charges entrance fees. At the West Rim, if you are not booking a tour through Papillon, you’ll pay a stand-alone entry fee to enter the West Rim. Since the West Rim is not inside the Grand Canyon National Park, all visitors must pay the fee and National Park passes are not valid. Current fees are listed here.
